United Kingdom : The basics

Main city of Northern Ireland, Belfast has a population of just under 300,000 inhabitants, and more than double with the suburbs.

Belfast and its environs reflect human occupation dating from the Bronze Age. Marked by violence, the city is not necessarily seen as it should: it nevertheless presents a very interesting mix of cultures. Many monuments worth visiting: the majority are clustered in the old city center, you can easily get around on foot. These include the Grand Opera House, City Hall in Donegall Square, the famous Crown Liquor Saloon pub, the very old library in the Linen Hall Library and the St Ann's Protestant cathedral. Regarding museums, Ulster Museum is fascinating and this in various fields: not to be missed so. Do not forget to go then admire the frescoes painted in memory of the combatants on the facades of houses in the neighborhoods of West Belfast.

The nightlife is very lively in Belfast, particularly in the area of the Golden Mile. The city also has a famous concert hall, Waterfront Hall.

Cardiff
