Maps and Facts

The size of the peninsula and the different climatic influences of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean led to a plethora of climates. Although most of the country is hot and sunny in summer, there are big differences in temperatures in winter. The ribs are quite soft but the country is consistently cold and snowy. - Northwest: Although the summers are cooler, cloudy and humid, it remains a considerable amount of warm and sunny days. - Center: Spring and early summer tend to be the wettest seasons. Dust and hot winds are unpleasant summer but the humidity makes the slight heat more bearable than some coastal regions. - Mediterranean Coast: The periods of sunshine are high: 6h/jour of winter 12h/jour up in the middle of summer. Winters are mild and warmer than in the center of the country. Summers are hot and humid at times, the heat is tempered by sea breezes. The south can be unpleasant and stressful summer when it's dry heat due to winds from North Africa. - The Canary Islands: The waters of the Atlantic Ocean are quite fresh because of the cold Canaries. Temperatures rise very little in summer while winters are mild. You can find fog during the summer when it is cooler.
