The Romanian climate is markedly continental pronounced differences in temperature, very marked seasons, the winters are very cold and dry, hot summers, especially in Bucharest. To find a more pleasant in summer, it is advisable to visit the coast, where the Black Sea soften the atmosphere, or in the mountains of Transylvania and Moldova that will refresh their greenery and their regular showers. To take full advantage of Romania, therefore, prefer late spring or the beginning (or end) of the summer before May, you may fall on hotels that do more heat their rooms, while the nights are still cold!

What to do ?

All travelers who have visited Romania agreed: it is a country with a sense of welcome, warm and smiling, especially against French.

The interests of the country are many: Bucharest, Bucovina monasteries, the beaches of the Black Sea, the Danube Delta, the Carpathian forests, not forgetting the wooden churches of Maramures and the medieval city of Sibiu. Bukovina in particular is a region not miss the old villages, rural charm tinged with nostalgia, monasteries are classified world heritage by Unesco. Explore also the Danube delta, where you can admire 250 species of migratory birds in a protected space, and admire the traditional houses of fishermen near Lake Golovita. Out of curiosity, go also in the Carpathians to contemplate the Bran Castle which inspired Bram Stoker's Dracula legend. In Maramures, a museum displays crafts area, but the place not to miss the rest of Sapinta merry cemetery, whose graves are lost among blue flowers scattered.

Whatever your itinerary, you will be conquered by people who can communicate with their hosts conviviality and joie de vivre.

Romania : The basics

You can go to Romania with a simple identity card if you are a citizen of the European Union and your stay does not exceed 90 days.

The currency is the leu, which is currently 2.38 €.

You can get there by plane, but also train and even by bus (with Eurolines) s you are not daunted by the length of the trip.

For your accommodation, you can choose between hotels "to star" quite expensive, inns offering good value for money, but also bed and breakfasts that are often the ideal solution especially if you use organizations like the Green Network or ANTREC: then count about 30 € for half board.

Even for finding food: it is still among the living that you will have the opportunity to experience the best of Romanian cuisine, marked by different influences! The average cost of a meal is around 10 €.

Precautions: Beware of stray dogs which are very numerous. Beware also of ticks that abound in the countryside. Ditto for mosquitoes in wet areas like the Danube delta and near the lakes.

To move inside the country, stop working well but the competition is important. Buses, minibuses and trains are everywhere very present and very economic.
