Iceland : The basics
Europe is connected to Iceland by the Icelandair airline.
No visa is required for EU citizens. The currency in circulation is the Icelandic Krona. The budget required is very expensive: About €70 for a double room, and about €20 for a meal. Also, take into account the admission to museums which are quite expensive. There are no health issues in Iceland whose inhabitants have the longevity record in Europe: The health system is very effective with many doctors. However, protect yourself effectively against a small fly called the "black fly" that is common in the summer and very aggressive giving an unpleasant sting. To travel within the country, buses and ferries are the only effective means of transport available, unless you take a taxi. In winter, there is only the airplane because the roads are generally blocked by snow or ice. |
