What to do in Hungary

Visit its museums, the very special church-mosque, its synagogue with a romantic style, and its porcelain manufacturer. Hungary : The basics
Budapest is served by several airlines connecting it with many countries in Europe.
No visa is required for EU citizens. The currency in circulation is the Florin. The budget required is fairly small: You can find a double room for less than €40 and a copious meal for less than €15. There are no health issues. To travel within the country, buses are perfect. In the cities take trams, trolley-buses and the subway (in Budapest) for a very low cost and there are also taxis. If you want to buy souvenirs you can choose between embroidery, porcelain, Russian nesting dolls, wooden toys ... and wine! |
Towns in Hungary
Capital of Hungary, Budapest is known as the "pearl of the Danube" is approaching the two million inhabitants, and is a hub of central Europe.
Very touristy, it is reputed to be one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. On the other hand, a vibrant cultural life makes this city an attractive place for various categories of visitors. Many sites worth visiting: the fortifications and the Buda Royal Castle, Parliament, and its monumental facade of St. Stephen's Basilica, Heroes' Square, Museum of Fine Arts, the Great Synagogue, baths, New National Theatre, are some examples.
Several museums are worth a visit, whether the National Museum, the Museum of Ethnography and the Museum of Decorative Arts.
For your transportation, the subway is, with the tram, a perfect means of transportation: it is also one of the oldest in Europe.
And you will not leave Budapest without trying to be bathing in hot springs, among the dozens that make up the city, nor have sacrificed at the excursion by boat on the Danube, to discover the city from another angle.
