Located in the heart of the Pyrenees, the principality of Andorra is a small state of 468 km2. Independent since the Middle Ages through the signing of "Paréage between the Count of Foix and the bishop of La Seu d'Urgell, the country is divided into seven parishes each with its own administration (Andorra la Vella, Canillo, Encamp, Ordino, La Massana, Sant Julia de Loria, Escaldes-Endogarny). Very mountainous, there are 62 peaks over 2000m including Mt Coma Pedrosa rises to 2 946 m. 3 large valleys share the principality, one of them (Madriu-Perafita-Claror) is listed as a World Heritage Site. The climate is continental: cold and especially snowy winter, hot in summer. |

Towns in Andorra
The capital of Andorra, Andorra la Vella includes approximately 20,000 inhabitants. Located at 1400 meters altitude, it is best known for its shopping street where you can find famous stores 'duty free' that attract so many tourists, the city has over two miles!
It nevertheless contains some fine monuments showcasing art Romanesque church of Santa Coloma, the bridge Margineda, but the Casa de la Vall and gardens where you can admire the statue "The Dance".
There are also a number of small museums and art galleries to help you get better acquainted with the Andorran culture: for example the Museu de Geologia Obert, and Art Galeria Pilar Riberaygua.
You're always close to nature in Andorra la Vella, and you can enjoy the many tours organized from the city to discover the Path Valley Enclar, but also make ecotourism tours or hikes family.
Finally, we note a remarkable event, which is the season of music and dance, taking place from November to May and is under very good performances, featuring contemporary shows frequently remarkable.
