The humid tropical climate of Guadeloupe is characterized by an average annual temperature of 25 °. During the dry season from December to May the average temperature is 23 °, with low rainfall. During the wet season from June to November, the temperature climbed to 27 degrees and there is a heavy rainfall lasting several days. In addition, the rains are unpredictable and can occur at any time. Thus, the most favorable period for tourism in Guadeloupe is the period from December until April. However, if you want to avoid the crowded hotels and prices increased tenfold, it will be interesting to go from the month of April, when the tourist inflow is at its lowest level.

What to do ?

Guadeloupe : The basics

Basse-Terre

Basse-Terre
Basse-Terre is both a city and one of two main islands of Guadeloupe, which is also the administrative capital. Located at the foot of the Soufriere Hills volcano, it is strongly influenced by the presence of the latter. It has a little less than 15,000 inhabitants.

Originally, it was a fortress city, built upon année1743. Today, the city experienced an economic decline fairly clear, the successor to the eruption of the Soufriere in 1976.

You can visit the Old Quarters and interesting architectural heritage, the St. Francis Cathedral, Fort St. Charles, built on the hills and you can have a view overlooking the city and the bay.

In the city, you can go explore the rest of the region and its surrounding dense rainforest, classified National Park, through fields of sugar cane and banana fields, but also stopping off on the beaches of red sand or black. Some hiking trails allow you to explore the lush flora and numerous species of birds, waterfalls and rivers and enjoy the mangroves and the slopes of the Soufriere.
