BelemColonial City of Brazil, Belém has about a million and half people. It is also a busy port on the Amazon River, which gives it its commercial importance. But Belem is a beautiful tropical city with many parks and quiet, cobbled streets, shaded boulevards, and many cultural values despite its proximity to the jungle.

To visit the city, choose the months from September to December. It takes about three days to discover the major attractions of the city: the Praca de Republica in the center, bordered by the Teatro de Paz and its neoclassical architecture, the shopping center based on the Presidente Vargas Avenue, then on the verge of River "Estação Das Docas, old warehouses transformed into a shopping mall, not to mention the market Ver-o-Peso and multitudes of colors and smells, then Dom Pedro II Square, the Cathedral da Se, the Basilica of NS Nazaré and Forte do Castelo.
