What to do ?
Animal kingdom, nature untamed, Tanzania goes back to the origins of man. However, before you venture into national parks, Dar Es Salaam, the capital, you will connect with the diversity of cultures: the port where dhows and cargo side by side, the market Kariakoo, the national museum, botanical gardens, the Oyster Bay Beach are some highlights of the visit.
The park's Kilimanjaro is obviously an essential step of the journey: mythic volcano with snow, surrounded by forests containing leopards, buffaloes and elephants, it serves as a backdrop for hiking magnificent but difficult. Other legendary place, the Serengeti where you will contemplate the unforgettable spectacle of the wildebeest migration, but the giraffes and lions. Do not forget your binoculars. The island of Zanzibar is another undeniable attraction off the coast of Tanzania: a ballad in the old city of Stone Town with its bazaars and mosques, visiting the palace Marhubi, the forest Jozani, drop on beaches paradise, the discovery of the construction site dhows Nungwi, dolphins Kizimkazi, will leave you amazed memories. |
Tanzania : The basics
The airport in Dar Es Salaam is served by several airlines.
A visa is required. The current currency is the Tanzanian shilling. The budget provision would be very reasonable if you do not have to include entries in the national parks. You can indeed eat an average meal for about € 5 and find a double room for € 30. However access to parks are around 50 €: do not overlook this post in your schedule! Regarding health, vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory and recommended vaccines are more traditional ones against typhoid, hepatitis A, meningococcal meningitis and rabies. Take steps to protect yourself from malaria, drink bottled water or boiled water, wash your hands before handling food, peel fruits and vegetables, avoid shellfish and dairy products. To travel there, there are small airplanes to national parks, but also buses. Items to bring back memories: coffee, ebony carvings, stained glass jewelry, semi-precious stones, pipes, spices, traditional textiles, pottery, soapstone. |
