Senegal has a tropical climate with a rainy season relatively short, between June and September, when the heat is more oppression. The rains are frequent in the north which is in the intertropical belt. In the south, the rain may last until October. The showers in the central region lie between these extremes. During this period, the southwesterly winds are hot and humid while the north-east are hot and dry and often loaded with dust. The climate is more oppressive during the wet season, particularly on the coast. It is relatively cooler from December to April, during which the rains are scarce. The sun shines an average of 9 to 10 hours a day throughout the year. However, it is shining less time on the coast where the clouds are more prevalent. The best time to go to Senegal is from October to May / June. |
