Abidjan

AbidjanAbidjan is the economic capital of Cote d'Ivoire. In 2009, it had nearly 4 million inhabitants. It is a fast growing city, where industrialization is important. It is divided into two parts, themselves divided into several municipalities, each with their characteristics: the modern city, like most Europeans, are Plateau and Cocody, with posh villas and large gardens, while others reproduce the Organisation of African villages, as Marcory or Treichville. Around the lagoon Ebrie, there are also houses on stilts.

Abidjan has also the largest port in West Africa.

For the traveler, Abidjan offers many amenities: hotels, sports, nightlife, beaches ... But this is not a popular destination for tourists, attracting more business travelers, as did the Coast Ivory in general.

However, you can also visit the Park Bank, the gates of the city, which is a remnant of the old forest surrounding the lagoon, with its central lake, plantations of coffee and cocoa, and small river used to wash the laundry city. Some monuments are also worth mentioning: the mosques of Cocody and Treichville, St Paul, the Municipal Museum, the village M'Bock Ki Yi, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the National Museum and the craft center of the city . It should be noted also many music festivals held regularly by the city.
