Addis Ababa

Addis AbabaCapital of Ethiopia is also Africa's highest peaks, since more than 2300 meters above sea level. It therefore enjoys a pleasant climate, except during the rainy season is from June to September, when the streets are so perpetually muddy. The city has about 4 million inhabitants.

It has a number of monuments worth visiting: the equestrian statue of Menelik II, the statue of the Lion of Judah, the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, St. George Cathedral, Great Mosque, are the main examples. But the city is very young, a little more than a century, you will not find ancient historical relics.

However, you can also visit the National Museum, where the famous Lucy, the Institute of Ethiopian Studies and the Ethnological Museum, then perform a drive through the hills of Entoto, not to mention discovering the Merkato (or large market), with its special atmosphere, its multitude of objects, colors and smells is one of the largest open-air markets in the world.

And if you do not want to linger in the city, know that there trains many excursions to different places very interesting in the surrounding countryside.
