The city has preserved its medieval appearance in its old part and is a delight for tourists. Here are some sites not to be missed during your visit. Start by City Hall, which is the emblem of the ancient city, built in the 13th century purely Gothic, enthroned on the central square framed by beautiful houses and café terraces. In a corner of the square, pharmacy, opened since 1422, must see! Further afield, the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary and its bell tower blends architectural styles as it was rebuilt several times after its founding in 1233, and you have to climb to the top of its baroque bell tower to admire a panoramic view of the city . Then take the St. Catherine's Passage, which runs behind the church of the same name, which is the most typical street of the old town, with its craft shops and open workshops, which are manufactured with various ancient techniques items: hats, glasses, jewelery, silks, quilts, pottery ... Facing the parliament, the Orthodox Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was built in 1900 and offers stunning architecture, and within icons and mosaics. See also: the magnificent Kadriorg Palace, which is also the Museum of Fine Arts, with its beautiful gardens and its northern baroque style; Estonian Open Air Museum, farms with thatched roofs, windmills, a wooden chapel, all featuring rural life between the 18th and 20th century, as if you were there; the tower Kiek in de Kök and its underground tunnels and walls 4 meters thick; Toompea Castle which today is held Parliament; or the walls, the Freedom Square, the zoo ... There is so much to see in Tallinn! Also note that Tallinn is one of the few capitals where the air quality is excellent, in part because it has fifty parks, nice rest and green spaces. In addition, restaurants, wine bars, trendy spots and shops provide a bustling life. So you can alternate nature and culture in Tallinn for your well-being. But we should add an ease of access and movement picked due to its very center, and a network of buses, trams and trolleys very convenient. A place to discover!
