The capital of the Bahamas, Nassau, built on the island of the same name which it covers completely, has a little over two hundred thousand inhabitants, and is the cultural and commercial centre of the country. A major port, it is also a popular tourist destination, due to its proximity with the U.S., its lovely climate, and its seabed that is very suitable for diving.
