What to do in Danang (Tourane) : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Situated in the centre of Vietnam, Danang has around 800,000 inhabitants. A major sea port and economic centre, it is an important commercial hub for the routes to Thailand and Laos. Numerous cruise lines use this city as a way port. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Places to visit include; the Cham Museum with hundreds of works in sandstone and terracotta dating from between the 7th and 15th centuries, the Linh Ung pagoda and its white marble statues, the Tang Cho grotto next to the latter, also the remarkable Phu Kien Temple, the market, the Tran mansion and the Con Ga Cathedral that combines gothic and Roman architectural styles. Certain places outside the city are well worth taking the time to visit including the Marble Mountain with its five hills with its villages housing stone masons working to time honoured traditional methods, Non Nuoc beach boasting calm transparent water and delicious seafood, and Dream Pass that has a magical beauty. Hotels and restaurants of which there are a great range, both in terms of budget and standards, are easy to find in the city centre.
